Today`s message contains no opposition statements, although ratification packages sent to guild members contain pro and replicas, while opponents of the national council have received enough votes to qualify for a mandated minority report. In their statement, opponents say the new agreement anchors “historic losses and missed opportunities.” According to SAG`s vision, the guild attempted to negotiate and impose collective agreements, to set the same level of compensation, benefits and working conditions for its performers; to demand compensation for the operation of services registered by its members and to provide protection against the unauthorized use of these services; Employment opportunities for their members are maintained and expanded.  A rejection of the new pact against their leaders` recommendation – a step that is almost unheard of in the history of Hollywood`s work – would send representatives of the guild and the management of AMPTP to the negotiating table, although there is no guarantee that the union would get a better deal, especially during the end of the film and television production pandemic. Work orders are formally issued to designate productions that have not entered into the necessary agreements.  On 23 September 2017, an agreement was reached to end the 340-day strike.  A few days later, on February 13, 2016, SAG-AFTRA returned and added that Telemundo had treated its employees as “second-class professionals” because many players did not get basic job guarantees that offer sag-AFTRA contracts such as fair wages, water breaks, health insurance and leftovers. At the time, Telemundo President Luis Silberwasser replied that SAG-AFTRA had requested recognition of the union as a bargaining partner for workers, instead of asking for a voice from the workers. SAG-AFTRA stated, however, that intimidation tactics had taken place within the network to deter workers from forming trade unions and that they believe that there is “no equitable coordination” when workers fear for their careers and livelihoods and live with the fear of reprisals if they are considered to be actively inclined to trade unions. SAG-AFTRA wants to ensure full protection of democracy in the workplace and the rights of performers to vote in a truly fair process.  Membership in SAG-AFTRA is considered a rite of passage for new actors and media professionals. She is often obtained after being hired for her first job in a studio with a collective agreement with the union.  SAG-AFTRA`s work is considered to be much more prestigious than union jobs.
Because of the size and influence of the union, most major media companies have a collective agreement with SAG-AFTRA through the Film and Television Producers Association.
